Associate, Communications

The Associate, Communications supports Elevate’s media productions and relations, brand communications, events, and strategic growth efforts by integrating campaigns, creating online content, and enhancing brand awareness. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail and accuracy as well as a willingness to learn. The ability to transform complex information into engaging content that all stakeholders can engage and connect with is key to supporting our mission, enhancing our organization’s image, improving communication, and encouraging organizational growth.

The Associate, Communications reports to the Principal Director, Strategic Partnerships and Communications. This position is located in Chicago, Illinois and is currently remote.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and share content about Elevate’s work, including program collateral, blog posts, press releases, presentations, production memos, white papers, grant proposals, and more in collaboration with the Senior Associate, Communications.
  • Serve as the communications team lead for various projects and programs, including the Workforce and Contractor Development team and the Policy team, by providing communications expertise and delivering content.
  • Act in a production role for content creation and events including public television, Zoom interviews, writing and editing scripts, conducting interviews, and field producing.
  • Support planning and execution of strategic plans to engage and grow both Elevate’s audiences and funders.
  • Support internal initiatives such as the Elevate staff newsletters, staff awards, and events.
  • Provide support to allied partner groups as assigned.
  • Support internal and external workshops and training.
  • Attend staff events as assigned, which may include those on weekends and outside of business hours.
  • Support the Principal Director on special projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Three or more years of experience in communications, events, or media relations
  • Knowledge of website analytical tools
  • Good customer service skills
  • Solutions-oriented and innovative thinker
  • Willingness and ability to manage and move forward multiple project priorities with minimal supervision
  • Creative thinker with strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to simplify and summarize abstract ideas
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven, and able to use data to make decisions
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Able to handle deadline pressure and a fluid environment
  • Bilingual English/Spanish not required, but preferred
  • Passion for Elevate’s mission

Compensation

The total compensation for this position includes health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.), defined contribution benefit (401k with contribution), professional development, generous paid time off policies, and a flexible schedule. This is an exempt individual contributor position with a salary range of $45,000 – $55,000, based on experience.
