STATEMENT ON FEDERAL BUDGET RECONCILIATION BILL’S IMPACT ON OUR COMMUNITIES
The passage of the federal budget bill is a direct attack on the progress the country has made toward affordable, sustainable energy. It will claw back billions of dollars in clean energy investments that were helping everyday Americans lower their utility bills, while creating jobs and economic opportunity in every state.
Cutting these funds will be devastating for hardworking families, small businesses, and state and local governments that rely on clean energy programs to reduce costs, improve infrastructure, and grow our local economies. This bill will undermine one of the fastest-growing job sectors in the country, slashing nearly 1 million existing and future jobs and risks raising average energy bills for families by $400 a year.
Working families need and deserve better. At a time when we have people struggling to make ends meet, and communities are seeking much needed infrastructure solutions, this budget chooses short-term gains over long-term prosperity.
Elevate will continue to educate and work towards creating programs and initiatives that provide access to clean and affordable heat, cooling, power and water, but this bill is in fact a setback to the decades of work and advancement of clean energy solutions.
