National Nonprofit, Elevate, Briefs Lawmakers On Clean Energy Jobs And Cost-Saving Programs
Delegation of nonprofits and community leaders return from D.C. after bipartisan discussions on affordability, workforce growth, and community resilience.
WISCONSIN – National nonprofit, Elevate, in coalition with several partners, returned from a week in Washington D.C., after a series of productive conversations with policymakers where the organizations met with members of Congress from Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and several other states to discuss the economic benefits of federal clean energy investments and the importance of maintaining programs that lower costs for families and support local job growth.
During meetings with lawmakers, Elevate shared updates on how federal tax credits and clean energy programs are directly benefiting communities across various states. Discussions focused on lowering utility bills for households, supporting small contractors and workforce development, and strengthening energy resilience in urban neighborhoods and rural communities.
Elevate briefed lawmakers on the organization’s work, specifically in Wisconsin, North Carolina, Michigan, and Indiana, where federal investments are similarly driving job creation, supporting advanced manufacturing, and reducing energy burdens for low‑income households. These conversations reinforced a shared understanding that clean energy programs are delivering measurable economic value across diverse regions.
“Our team heard from offices across the delegation that affordability and reliability remain top concerns for their constituents,” said Elevate’s CEO Dr. Anne Evens. “We were able to show how federal programs are already addressing those issues in states like Wisconsin, as an example, by cutting energy costs, improving housing quality, and creating skilled jobs in communities that need them.”
Congressional leaders expressed interest in Elevate’s work on building electrification, weatherization, and community‑scale resilience projects. Elevate’s policy experts highlighted the importance of stable federal policy to support long‑term planning for housing providers, local governments, and small businesses that rely on predictable incentives to move projects forward.

The goal of this meeting was to express the need for Congress to protect the clean energy tax credits and federal programs that are driving private investment, supporting small business growth, and helping families save money. Long‑term policy stability is essential for contractors, manufacturers, and community organizations planning multi‑year projects that strengthen local economies.
As Congress considers upcoming budget and tax decisions, the delegation that hosted Elevate and the many other leaders and organizations, encourages lawmakers to preserve the tools that are delivering jobs, savings, and energy security for Illinois communities.
